On to new things…
Trying to take better care of myself. Lots of reasons why, more than the obvious, but either way, it’s a good thing!
I’ve contacted a local kick boxing studio/gym and I’m hoping to start going there even as early as next week. I need something structured, something to look forward to. I’ve decided as of…NOW, that I’m not eating Macca (McDonalds) anymore. It makes me feel sick, and it’s GROSS for me. Yuck yuck.
I quit drinking energy drinks or caffiene in large amounts about three months ago now, which has helped a lot for sure. I still drink 1-2 cans of Dr Pepper a day (yum…yuck? YUM!) which is horrible, but I’m going to cut that back to 1 can a day starting now, and see if I can convince myself that it’s an awesome idea to stop drinking soda almost completely? Maybe totally? Ahhh, my comfort foooods…
Other horrible things i can’t stop eating! Pasta pasta PASTA butter butter (so much butter). LOTS of fruit juice, but I make sure to buy juice with no added sugar. I also water it down as well, to ‘trick’ myself into drinking a lot more water.
Current trick to try on myself is to trade some of the butter for olive oil. Not great, but better. I don’t drink milk anymore, but I’m trying to eat more yogurt. I should buy FISH. Love fish.
Anyways, yeah. Making a concerted effort to get healthier, feel better, lose weight. 6 years ago I was 10kg (22lbs) lighter, and I’d at least like to get myself at a steady and healthy ‘under 60kg’ weight.
So yup!

Cinnamon Scrolls – Adventures in Baking
One thing I’ve really gotten into lately is baking. I love creating things and I love food, so it’s something that makes sense. I love it. More than making or creating anything else lately, I LOVE to cook.
Tonight’s experiment was Cinnamon Scrolls. This was my first time ever making ‘bread’, as in a dough with yeast and I wasn’t sure how it’d turn out..but I shouldn’t have been worried. The smell was so good I was wandering around the house muttering under my breath and I ate one as soon as they were cool enough. They’re DELICIOUS.
I’ve realised while making these though that I desperately need an electric mixer/mixing bowl and I really need some nice large pyrex cooking pans.

Strike, Varanus x ??
I’ve done some artwork lately (which in the last year or so has been done less often than update LJ and this place) and I’m quite pleased with the recent stuff I’ve done.
Recently I had a strange vauge sort of dream where I can’t quite remember anything that happened, but I distinctly remember this fellow. He was running along beside me in the trees, and then spent the rest of the dream with me as a pet/companion. I couldn’t accurately describe what he looked like after the dream so I spent the last week or so doodling pictures on piece of paper until I came up with this…and it fits very well into the ‘feeling’ I have of the character.
So! Meet Spike, a Varanus giganteus (Perentie/Goanna) cross…something critter. I’ve also done a few colour morphs of different members of the ’species’, based off of 1. Emerald Monitor, 2. Bell’s Phase Lace Monitor and a colour pattern of…I’m not sure. Perhaps a monitor lizard crossed with a lime.
He means it when he says, “don’t touch!”.
(Sorry, first of all, for not posting here in ages! I’m no good at remembering to update the world about what I’m up to, but I’ll try a bit harder to keep this place up to date.)
Went out to Wellington Point today with my partner, and since it was low tide we wandered around in the sand for a while. Came across this nice crab which I poked, of course. I can’t seem to help myself and as would be expected, I got a decent pinch for my efforts.
Sorry Mr. Crab. Wont do it again (maybe).
Mud and Skippy
I promised a better photo of the mudskippers once they started coming out and not being so shy, so here we are.
